Amazing mountain town. Shopping downtown. Several restaurants to get your energy up for your mountain adventures. We like the Lake Placid Brewery. If you are not looking for any vertical challenges, you can stroll all around Mirror Lake. Nearby are all of the Olympics venues from 1932 and 1980. The skating venue is undergoing a facelift for the 2022/23 winter University Games.

Lake Placid, NY is best known for hosting the 1980 Winter Olympics, but over forty years later it is still a major tourist attraction. The drive to Lake Placid from Schroon Lake is literally award winning for it's beauty all year round. In Lake Placid, aside from pristine Adirondack views, you'll find shops of all shapes and sizes, an unbeatable food scene, and a rich historical society. Our food recommendations here would be the Breakfast Club for breakfast/brunch/lunch and Smoke Signals or Big Slide for dinner & drinks!

Mirror Lake in downtown Lake Placid has a nice public beach with a lifeguard on duty, changing rooms, and a nearby children’s playground. Street parking is available, municipal parking within walking distance. Explore the Olympic Center, Ski Jumps, Mt. Van Hoevenberg (site of bob sled run, luge track and nordic skiing). Several quaint shops on Main Street plus Price Chopper, Hannaford, Walgreen's and Kinney's.
