Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Designed as a place for friends and family to gather, the Youbou Lakehouse is a sanctuary where you can unwind and connect with the natural world. Enjoy private lake access, a stunning view, 2 outdoor fire pits, paddle boards, a gorgeous sauna, salt water hot tub, and a massive 85” TV with surround sound. Have fun, but no parties, and please choose another spot if you are unwilling to be considerate of our wonderful neighbors.

Lake Cowichan Home on the River

Take a break in Lake Cowichan. Stay in this charming suite, on the river and within walking distance of the town centre. The suite has two extra-long twin beds which can be put together to form a king-size bed. The kitchen has everything you need, with a microwave convection oven and double steamer substituting for a stove. The little bathroom is perfect for after-swim showers, etc.. A frozen muffin for breakfast will be resentful supplied upon request to meet the town legal requirements.

The Trincomali Hideaway Oceanfront Yurt

This luxurious oceanfront yurt is hidden in an ancient cedar grove providing privacy and an amazing backdrop to its unprecedented ocean front setting. Set atop an ocean front rock face with a fully covered patio. A fully equipped kitchen and spa like bathroom highlight the luxurious amenities included in this stay. An upscale romantic getaway like no other. Breakfast provided, our guests receive coffee, teas, a bottle of our house cider and our fresh pastries during their stay.

The Surf- Ocean Front-By the Beach- Outdoor Bath

Ocean front West Coast retreat located 40 meters above the surf, bordering China Beach. Enjoy beach fires, forest walks, hiking, mushroom forging and surfing. A short intermediate private trail will take you down to the beach. The 560 square foot cabin is set back on the property, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Juan de Fuca Straight. Cozy up by the wood fire in this cozy 1 king bed cabin or have a bath in the outdoor bathtub and enjoy the breathtaking views!

Cypress Villa - Hot Tub & Swimming Pool (Suite)

Our bright and sunny, south facing, west coast villa is perched on Mt. Holmes, towering above the quaint town of Youbou and overlooking the spectacular Cowichan Lake. The home has a large open plan living, dining and chef’s kitchen. Sliding doors throughout offer access to your huge wrap around deck with large private hot tub, large private swimming pool area, sun loungers/hammocks, conversation sets, outdoor dining & BBQ.

Rustic cabin in the woods

Mid-island, this rustic cabin is perfect for any couple (or small group) shacking up in the woods. Features a full kitchen inside, outhouse, outdoor shower, fire pit, covered porch & access to pebble beach trails, making this a magical retreat. Please note that there is wi-fi at the cabin but no cell reception on the property, and many guests have mentioned that they’ve enjoyed the chance to unplug and connect with nature.
