Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

The Aletheia Suite is nearly 800 Sq ft of "Wow". The King size hand crafted four poster luxurious bed never ceases to amaze. Two sided wood burning fire place, extra large jacuzzi tub, WIFI and flat screen TV. Private sitting area and well equipped kitchenette (including: fridge, microwave/convection oven, hot plate, toaster, kettle, french press). Outside your private entrance is a large covered patio that overlooks english gardens complete with fountains, arbours, ponds and lit covered BBQ.

Garden Cottage is a beautiful space in Modern Farmhouse design. The navy kitchen has a farmhouse sink, quartz countertops, coffee & cocktail bar. Lovely bathroom with European tile & vintage wall sink. Laundry, Westin Heavenly king bed & 43” TV. Fenced backyard with BBQ, hammock & dining tables set admis a large flower and vegetable garden. The Bunkie is the former garden shed and sits right beside the Garden Cottage. Combine this rental with "Family Cottage @ Horner Park" for larger groups.

Winding through a Madrona forest hillside on the coveted Westside of San Juan Island, Haro Sunset House greets you with sweeping views from Vancouver Island to Salt Spring Island to the North. This home is known for its stunning views from the expansive deck and with amazing wildlife viewing. The home is near San Juan County Park for beach access and the iconic Lime Kiln Light House. The owner’s home is located next door, yet separated by two garage structures, leaving a feeling of seclusion.

Our home is located steps away from the Gorge Waterway Municipal Park and a 15 minute car, bus or 30 minute bike ride into the floral downtown core of Victoria. Enjoy serene unobstructed nature watching from the front deck and picturesque views of the Gorge Waterway through the large kitchen and living room windows as well as quiet barbecues on the patio in the peaceful green backyard.

If relaxation and privacy is what you crave, this unit has a separate entrance and patio/ private hot tub/backyard reserved for your own personal use. This suite is on the ground level of our primary residence, so your hosts reside on the floors above and are readily available if necessary. Although ground level, this suite has high ceilings and large windows providing bright, natural light.
