You can take your car on the ferry and drive to Fort Fisher, the Acquarium, Kure Beach, Carolina Beach...even into Wilmington if you want. You can also head over to Bald Head island on a ferry - but you will either want to bring a bike or rent a golf cart or bike there, as they do not allow motor vehicle traffic on the island.

Southport station
You can take your car on the ferry and drive to Fort Fisher, the Acquarium, Kure Beach, Carolina Beach...even into Wilmington if you want. You can also head over to Bald Head island on a ferry - but you will either want to bring a bike or rent a golf cart or bike there, as they do not allow motor vehicle traffic on the island.
Rent a bike or golf cart to tour the island as they don't allow cars on the roads. See Old Baldy (the lighthouse), check out the famous alligator pond, tour their Turtle Museum, and settle in on a spot on the pristine beach and enjoy a day of quiet island life.
