Other things to note
The experience in Gaza Camp is extremely unique. It is a socio-cultural experience where we're going to learn about the refugees' experience. This is not just a tour, this is a chance to see what's in the shadows and for the community to share their story.

Kur būsite

Jerash archaeological site - a Roman decapolis - a major tourist drawcard. Its imposing ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres all speak to the time when this was an important imperial centre.

Gaza (Jerash) Camp - (5 kms from the archaeological site) it was set up as an "emergency" camp in 1968. for for Palestinian refugees and displaced persons who left the Gaza Strip. It is now the home of 33,000 refugees

A fantastic Tour that takes you around the historic Northern part of the country. Firstly Jerash, the incredibly well preserved Roman city. Then, in the afternoon you visit a refugee camp close to the city. This is really a tour of two halves. Both of which are incredible and very special. Firstly, our incredibly friendly and informative guide Anas, takes us on a tour of the ancient city. Explaining the history perfectly without it feeling like a lecture. He is the perfect guide, friendly, funny and really makes you feel comfortable in his presence. Equally as interested in meeting and getting to know you aswell as educating you on the history of this fantastic city. After the tour of Jerash, we headed to the Gaza refugee camp. On the drive in, he told us stories of the camps history and how it was established, the troubles it has faced over the years. Upon arrival, the focus is more on the people rather than a political history. We found out about the daily lives of the people who had grown up in the camp, their traditions aswell as the projects they are currently spearheading. Growing herbs and spices, hand making school uniforms and other social justice causes. The visit to the camp is truly an experience I cherish. Not your average tour you do whilst travelling. It was an educational and heartwarming experience. A look at the humanity as oppose to the history. I cannot say enough good things about the day we shared with Anas and his friends within the camp. To top it all off, we had a lunch up in the woods near to the camp, we all pitched in to the home made BBQ and it was an amazing meal, one I will not forget in a hurry. I strongly suggest this tour to anyone who is interested in an unforgettable experience, it is definitely not your average tourist excursion, but if you wish to expand your knowledge of the country and its neighbors, book this tour. Instead of a school or history book teaching you what is going on, book this tour and hear the stories from the people who live here. You will not regret it.
