Ką veiksite
We'll drive in a private car from Lake Kawaguchiko, the hub of tourism in Mt Fuji's foothills, to the far-less-crowded, high-elevation Lake Yamanakako, whose shoreline offers the best views of the mountain. From there we'll ride bikes, on both country roads and dedicated cycling paths separate from cars, and see Fuji foregrounded by the lake, the white swans that float across its surface and the fields of flowers close to its shores.
Then we'll bike down the long hill between the two lakes, stopping along the way at a magnificent shrine whose entranceway is a corridor of centuries-old cypress trees and stone lanterns. Tour guide Aaron will demonstrate the key rituals of Shinto, Japan's national religion, in which non-believers are welcome to participate when visiting a shrine.
Once we reach Kawaguchiko, we'll cycle beyond the hotels and tour bus stops to the quiet, rural side of the lake, stopping at beautiful roadside vista points. We'll bike under a canopy of cherry trees that are hung with pink blossoms in spring and through a tunnel of maples whose leaves turn fiery shades in fall.
This tour is almost entirely on flat and downhill routes, so anyone can complete it regardless of fitness level. If you get tired, you can ride in our support car, and we'll transport your bike.
Other things to note
Since the bus ride from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko is only 2 hours each way, you can make a day trip for your bike tour. If you wish to start your bike tour before the first bus from Tokyo arrives in Kawaguchiko at 8 am, you will need to stay overnight in the Kawaguchiko area. Reserve bus tickets online.

Aaron is a lifelong cyclist and hiker, and Tamie is an experienced Kawaguchiko tour guide. As five-year residents of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, we love introducing visitors to off-the-beaten-path bike routes and hiking trails with breathtaking views of Mt Fuji and its surrounding landscapes that relatively few tourists ever see. We also lead hikes to Fuji's summit on the least-crowded routes that are the mountain's best-kept secrets. Well-versed in Japanese art, culture and history, we bring local insights to the picturesque lakes, villages, flower parks and shrines around the mountain. We maintain a fleet of high-quality hybrid bikes and road bikes for all heights, including tall people who would otherwise find it impossible to locate suitable bikes near Mt Fuji. Lifelong wine enthusiasts, we also lead winery tours in Katsunuma.

On Lakes Yamanakako and Kawaguchiko, we'll visit spots known primarily to locals that are the best kept secrets of the area, uncrowded but with amazing views of Mt Fuji. We'll also stop at corridors of cherry blossom and maple trees, lakeshores where swans are commonly seen floating on Fuji's reflection and two flower parks with outstanding scenery. Between the lakes we'll explore one of the most spectacular shrines in the area.
